The world population is expected to be about 9 billion people by the year 2050. This would translate to high food demand that is predicted to be about the double of the acreage cultivated today. The amount of cultivatable land is diminishing as a result of the high population demanding land for settlement and other development projects. The increase of industries and other machinery using fossil fuels is contributing to global warming, a menace that is leading to the aridity of fertile land. These problems call for scientific involvement in finding the solution to the worlds food demand.Generic food is better than the organic food as it is resistible to the challenges of pest and diseases and drought. Pest and diseases have been the problem to the small scale farmers who incur much cost in producing the crops (Weirich, 2015). The farmers are forced to use much money in buying pesticides to apply to their crops. As the prices of the farm chemicals are high, they are forced to sell their crops at a very high price. In addition, some pests continue to be resistant to the crops and will continue attacking them leading to low yield.
